Dear Readers,

I’m on a mission, I’ve made my decision and I…hate Green Day because their last CD wasn’t all that great. Or I mean it was, but it wasn’t Dookie, you know? Sure, the radio played it a lot; but the radio also played an awful lot of “Bringing Sexy Back”, and no one, NO ONE, is arguing that “Bringing Sexy Back” is a phenomenal song.

MISSION . My mission. I’ve chosen to accept it. It was laid down by Zack in this month’s Cheat Codes for Life, and I’ma frickin’ do it. He says my street cred’ ain’t enough. He says I gotta play me some Final Fantasy games. Hellz yeah. I’ma frickin’ do it. Final Fantasies I, IV, and VII, whatever those letters mean in real people numbers. And VI thrown in for good measure.

STREET CRED will be mine. No more will I be looked down upon for not having played a single Final Fantasy, as I was at a recent Magic: the Gathering (motto: It’s at least cooler than Yu-Gi-Oh!) convention by this chick who said I wasn’t a real gamer. (She also said I look like Boromir. Do I? Discuss in the comments section!) Eff that, man. Eff that in the A. I ain’t standing for it. I’ma get me some damned street cred. I’ve already started on the first Final Fantasy, stolen from GameCola’s own Matt Gardner for the G-BASP. If you love exploring the same dungeon over and over, you’ll love this game.

(Are there any other games one should play so one has some amazing gamer street cred? Discuss in this article’s comments section! I’m thinking any Mario, Sonic, GTA or Oregon Trail games are a given, but what are your thoughts?)

And after that, I’ma read me some GameCola! Well actually I should’ve read it by then, being the chief editor and all. In fact, I have read it, I can tell you this: It’s awesome! Just like it always is! We’ve lost a couple (Bradley and Janra) of staff members this month, but it’s OK. We’ll be hunting down their replacements momentarily; in fact, probably next month! Our infamous JANISH is coming up, so we’ve gotta start scouting some fresh meat. Mmmm.

In FACT, while I’m on the subject: If you or anyone you know is interested in writing for GameCola, lemme know, champ! My e-mail addy is pfranzen@gamecola.net, so hit me up, g.

And that’s that! We’ve got a touching scene with Steve and his Chocobo, we’ve got Mark talking smack on videogame movies, and we’ve got SONIC VERSUS BOWSER IN THE ULTIMATE GRUDGE MATCH! You won’t want to miss ANY of it; I promise!!

Ciao.

Love,

Paul Franzen
